Data-driven innovation has become a key driver of growth and jobs that can significantly boost business competitiveness in the global market. We need a Global Digital Single Market where data can flow globally and across sectors. Where data can be exchanged effectively and the rules for access and use of data are fair, practical, and clear, and privacy and data protection, as well as competition law, are fully respected. Enabling this data sharing among industries is a precondition for the sustainable development of a Data Economy for the benefit of all and not just a few players.
If we want organizations, particularly SMEs, to participate in this thriving Data Economy, we need frameworks that boost their data sharing capabilities, allowing them to benefit from new cross-domain data value chains, create smart solutions, scale their businesses and, in return, gain a strong position in the market. We are talking about a sustainable ecosystem that provides the right tools, knowledge, and support for organizations/SMEs to share data in a trusted and effective manner. An ecosystem that enables the creation of interoperable data sharing infrastructures, commonly known as “Data Spaces,” can be deployed everywhere by multiple operators and for everyone’s benefit.
Breaking down data silos and transforming markets
With i4Trust, companies will create innovative services by breaking “data silos” through sharing, re-using, and trading data assets. 32 Bottom-Up Experiments involving at least 150 SMEs and 32 Digital Innovation Hubs will contribute to the digital transformation of industrial value chains across multiple domains such as Smart Cities, Smart Mobility, Smart Manufacturing, Smart AgriFood, Smart Energy, Smart Water, Smart Health and Smart Logistics.
Digital Innovation Hubs in Europe willing to enrich their portfolio of services and play an active role in the new European Data Strategy geared towards the creation of Data Spaces are invited to join the i4Trust Community. Here, they can engage in the process of collective learning and human endeavor that will help organizations scale-up their businesses and come up with new business models that are fitted to solve today’s most pressing issues.
This is what the i4Trust Community is all about: providing the right tools, education, coaching, and initial funding for the creation of Data Spaces, enabling an effective and trustworthy data sharing process.
